And then there were two....
Despite recent developments in new digital technology, I had to opt for the reliable workhorse.
A few weeks ago, at Tricia Williams wedding to Steven Parks (Congratulations!), I took an unfortunate fall. Walking backwards and shooting at the same time has always been one of my strong suits until now.
Call it disillusionment from the burnished sparklers or mere uncoordinated lumpishness, when a small child the size of a large watermelon stepped behind me I couldn't help but take a fall. All would have been well if I wasn't sporting two fancy camera's (one of my own and one on loan). Luckily my elbows, which are still in tact, took the brunt of the fall. However, two lens hoods, cosmetic damage, emotional scarring and the constant lingering thought of knowing my camera basically dropped four feet still rings true in my head. All seems to be in good working condition... for now.
With all of that said I decided to go with what I know best in this high-tech world, another NikonD1X. Until just a few days ago I only had one of these bad boys. Then I ran across a deal I couldn't refuse, and took a risk to invest some more money into an ever obsolete industry. Yes, it is old. Yes, it doesn't have quite as high resolution as newer cameras. But, it has stood the test of time, has a lot of bang for the buck if you can find a trusty used one. And probably the best feature of all, changing to black and white on the fly. "I have two guns, one for each of ya'", ... one of my all time favorite quotes. If you can name it, I might write you into my will for a 2.5lb piece of metal and optics.
